Madinah's Construction Sector Records Growth Driven by Development Projects, Urban Expansion

The construction sector in Madinah recorded growth in 2026, driven by the momentum of development projects and urban expansion taking place in the region, as well as increased demand for construction, building, and infrastructure services, enhancing the sector's role as one of the main drivers of economic and investment activity.

 Data issued by the Al Madinah Al Munawarah Chamber showed that the number of commercial registrations in the construction sector rose from 13,757 in December 2025 to 14,018 in March 2026. The sector is one of the region's largest economic sectors, employing 107,345 workers, representing 22.3% of the region's total workforce. It also includes 29,967 establishments operating in the construction sector, representing about 8.2% of the total establishments operating in the sector across the Kingdom.

 According to a report by the chamber, the scale of ongoing development projects in the region enhances the sector's future growth opportunities. In the first quarter of 2025, the region implemented 213 development projects, with expectations that they will create more than 119,000 future job opportunities.

 The importance of the construction sector lies in its links to several economic activities, most notably industries related to building materials, engineering and management consultancy, and transportation and logistics services, in addition to its role in implementing residential, commercial, tourism, and infrastructure projects.
