NCVC Explores Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Sustainability Investments with Thailand’s BJC

The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) held a coordination meeting with Thailand’s Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC) to strengthen international partnerships and create investment opportunities in the field of environmental sustainability.
According to a press release from the center, the meeting—attended by NCVC Deputy CEO for Greening Affairs Eng. Ali Al-Wad’ai and held in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment—focused on investment opportunities in modern agricultural technologies, localizing knowledge, and leveraging global best practices in NCVC-led projects.
The meeting also highlighted NCVC’s leadership role in afforestation efforts aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative, particularly the 10 billion trees planting campaign, and reviewed the progress made so far in this significant national endeavor.
Discussions also addressed the potential for BJC to invest in sites managed by NCVC, evaluating their environmental investment viability and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Saudi experience in mangrove honey production was highlighted, along with mechanisms for exporting mangrove saplings to Thailand, subject to favorable environmental conditions.
The center further presented a selection of major national geoparks, emphasizing their geological and cultural importance. It shared a vision for transforming these areas into premier eco-tourism destinations and nature-based resorts. A conceptual investment framework was introduced, focusing on preserving the natural integrity of these sites while ensuring their sustainable development.
"NCVC is responsible for developing, protecting, monitoring, and rehabilitating vegetation cover sites across the Kingdom. Its mandate includes detecting violations, combating illegal logging, and overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks to ensure their sustainable use, all in alignment with the Saudi Green Initiative," the release read.
