Qassim Ranks Third Nationally in Date Processing Plants

Qassim Region has reinforced its leading position in the Kingdom's palm and date sector, supported by a vast agricultural base and rapid expansion in sorting, packaging, and advanced food processing operations aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to diversify non-oil exports.

 According to the National Center for Palms and Dates, Qassim ranks as the Kingdom's top date-producing region by volume, generating 584,127.8 tons annually across roughly 13,403 agricultural holdings and 10.87 million palm trees.

 The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Qassim stated that the region ranks third nationally in the number of date factories, hosting 25 processing and manufacturing facilities with a combined annual capacity exceeding 390,000 tons. Associated investments and financing in these facilities are estimated at SAR313 million.

 The region's processing ecosystem transforms raw yields into high-value products, including date paste, syrups, concentrated beverages, natural vinegars, and premium coated or filled items. The sector also creates opportunities within the circular economy by using low-grade yields and date pits for animal feed, bio-oils, and industrial inputs, reducing waste and maximizing economic returns across the agricultural value chain.
