Farmers Market Showcases Crop Diversity During AlUla Date Season

The Al-Manshiyah Farmers Market, held as part of the AlUla Date Season, serves as an economic platform for farmers and families working in the cottage industry to showcase their crops and products to visitors, opening new marketing channels for local produce and highlighting the diversity of agricultural activity in the governorate, along with related products offered by the local community.

 The market welcomes visitors from September 18 to 27, providing farmers with an opportunity to display and sell their crops. It also features families in the cottage industry offering a variety of goods, creating a space that connects producers directly with consumers and enhances the visibility of local products throughout the season.

 As part of the season's economic activities, the AlUla date auction at Al-Fursan Village continues on weekends through November 15. It receives local date varieties from farmers, providing broader marketing opportunities and facilitating access to buyers and retailers.

 This activity is supported by AlUla's extensive agricultural base, which comprises more than 4.2 million palm trees and produces approximately 130,000 tons of dates annually, with cultivated areas spanning more than 20,500 hectares.

 Efforts to develop the agricultural sector and enhance production quality are ongoing, with more than 7,100 farmers benefiting from extension, technical, and veterinary services. In addition, 500 farms have obtained the "Saudi Dates" quality mark certification, while more than 1.5 million palm trees have been registered in the smart tracking system using QR codes.

 Date sales indicators point to growing marketing activity. The volume sold during the 2025 season reached approximately 2.25 million kilograms, generating total sales of SAR13.19 million, compared with 1.7 million kilograms valued at SAR8.8 million during the 2024 season. This represents a 48.7% increase in sales value. AlUla dates have successfully reached various international markets.

 The AlUla Dates Season falls under the "Khayrat AlUla" agricultural season, an initiative launched by the Royal Commission for AlUla to serve as an umbrella for the governorate's agricultural seasons and events. The initiative encompasses the summer fruit season, AlUla date auction, and seasons for citrus, Peregrina, and honey, reflecting the diversity of agricultural production and seasonal harvests throughout the year.
