Team Races Wrap Up as Fleet Racing Begins at Arab Sailing Championship in Jeddah

The Jeddah Sailing Center hosted team racing competitions yesterday during the 2026 Arab Sailing Championship (Optimist Class), featuring 10 teams representing nine Arab nations.

The rounds highlighted emerging youth talent and regional solidarity, marked by the participation of a unified girls' squad comprising sailors from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. Favorable weather conditions allowed most preliminary heats to conclude as scheduled.

The UAE national team secured its place in the final, while Oman and Morocco will face off today to determine the second finalist. The host Saudi team delivered a competitive showing, reflecting the technical progress of the Kingdom's rising sailors.

Organized by the Saudi Sailing Federation, the championship runs through September 21. Today's schedule features the medal-deciding team matches alongside the launch of fleet racing events for individual honors. The Jeddah Sailing Center will continue to provide year-round training programs to develop foundational sailing skills and support future competitors.
