Ten Towering Minarets Grace the Prophet’s Mosque, Echoing the Timeless Call to Prayer

The Prophet’s Mosque is distinguished by ten majestic minarets that serve as both architectural and spiritual landmarks. From their lofty heights, the timeless call to prayer—the Adhan—echoes daily, stirring hearts and evoking tranquility.

Arranged in precise symmetry, four minarets rise along the mosque’s northern facade, with one situated at each of its four corners—northeastern, northwestern, southeastern, and southwestern. Two additional minarets are located at the midpoint of the eastern and western sides.

The minarets reflect a blend of architectural styles, shaped by centuries of Islamic heritage and successive expansions. Each structure comprises five levels, standing as enduring symbols of the mosque’s historical evolution.

Of particular prominence is the southeastern minaret—the mosque’s main minaret—situated near the iconic Green Dome. It is the most renowned and the tallest among all the mosque’s minarets.
