King Salman Park: A Global Model for a Borderless Green City

King Salman Park in Riyadh is writing new chapters in a Saudi success story that knows no limits, continuing its unique journey of achievement through ongoing construction and the expansion of its vast green spaces. The park is set to become a distinctive national model on the global stage of sustainable development, embodying the vision of a first-of-its-kind park that represents the features of a borderless green city.
As part of this vision, King Salman Park has adopted 3D printing technology as an innovative solution, reshaping the urban construction landscape. This technology is being used to build service units spread throughout the park—including kiosks, rest areas, and public facilities—thereby accelerating project completion while maintaining high-quality standards. It has become a key tool in achieving the park’s sustainability goals.
The park also features a network of sub-gardens, serving as natural gateways that connect its surroundings with the central forest. Each garden is uniquely designed, showcasing distinctive trees and plants to provide a diverse range of experiences that reflect the richness of the park’s environment.
The arts complex stands as an open-air museum where artworks and plant life merge with lakescapes, turning the natural surroundings into a permanent exhibition of art and inspiration. Suspension bridges span across the water, linking different zones of the park while offering panoramic views that enhance the visitor experience and harmonize modern design with the natural environment.
Adding to this vision is a 7,800-square-meter visitor nursery, a cornerstone of efforts to expand green areas and boost biodiversity. The nursery contains around 82,500 trees and shrubs of local and environmentally adaptive species, beautifying pathways and seating zones while offering educational opportunities for visitors to learn about the journey of plants from seed to root.
Meanwhile, the development of parking buildings plays a vital role in the park’s integrated design. Eight strategically distributed facilities—each built using innovative techniques, including 3D printing—combine parking with public amenities and green landscaping. More than just entry points, they serve as part of the park experience itself, ensuring visitors enjoy seamless movement from arrival to departure, all within a setting that reflects the spirit of King Salman Park as a borderless green city.
