Northern Border University Unveils Smart Arabic Sign Language Translation Model

Researchers at Northern Border University have developed a cutting-edge AI-driven model that translates Arabic Sign Language (ArSL) communication and accessibility.
The research team explained that the new model, whose results were published in “Mathematics Magazine,” is built on an adaptive transformer architecture that integrates several innovative technologies, including adaptive signal scanning, segment-directed attention, and adaptive feature fusion.
Tested on the ArabSign dataset for ArSL, the model achieved remarkable performance outcomes, qualifying it for effective implementation in assistive systems for individuals with hearing impairments.
This milestone reflects the Kingdom’s dedication, as outlined in Vision 2030, to enhancing the lives of persons with disabilities by promoting innovation in the health and education technology sectors and advancing academic research across Saudi universities.
