Makkah Achieves 3rd National and 50th Global Rankings in IMD Smart City Index 2026
The city of Makkah has secured 50th place globally and third nationally, following Riyadh, in the 2026 IMD Smart City Index, according to the International Institute for Management Development.
Makkah Region Mayor Musaed Al-Dawood affirmed that the city’s high ranking reflects the significant progress Makkah is making in digital transformation.
This advancement is achieved by improving public services through modern technologies, increasing resource efficiency, and enhancing community participation, all of which contribute to delivering sustainable solutions that meet the needs of residents and visitors.
The IMD Smart City Index evaluates cities based on their readiness to leverage advanced technologies to address urban challenges, with a focus on enhancing quality of life and creating an attractive business environment for investment.
