7.3 Million Trees Planted in Makkah for Greener Future

The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification continues to advance afforestation efforts in Makkah Region, in line with the Kingdom’s broader environmental sustainability initiatives.
To date, 7.3 million trees have been planted across the region as part of the Saudi Green Initiative. These efforts form part of 43 afforestation projects scheduled for implementation by 2100, covering four primary zones across Makkah.
The afforestation initiative supports the national objective to plant one billion trees and rehabilitate 4.5 million hectares of degraded land throughout the Kingdom.
This campaign reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing vegetation cover, combating desertification, and promoting long-term environmental sustainability.
