Fifth Mangrove Honey Event Promotes Sustainable Agriculture in Qatif
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s branch office in Qatif Governorate launched a five-day mangrove honey event yesterday to highlight the growing importance of sustainable agricultural and environmental initiatives.
Director General of the ministry’s branch in Eastern Region Fahd Al-Hamzi stated that the event, now in its fifth edition, is part of efforts to support national agricultural value chains and empower productive beekeepers.
He underscored that through such annual events, the ministry aims to promote a balance between environmental preservation and economic growth, aligning with broader national sustainability goals.
Director of the Qatif branch office Mohammed Al-Asmakh said the event aims to showcase the environmental and economic value of Qatif Governorate’s natural mangrove honey and related processing industries. He highlighted the role of young Saudi entrepreneurs in developing this unique national product, and said that this year’s edition revealed a production volume exceeding 20 tons of mangrove honey.
He also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting agricultural and processing industries, empowering local beekeepers, and enhancing the sustainability of vital environmental resources, particularly the mangrove-rich coastal ecosystems.
