Riyadh Parking Project Launches Managed Parking in Residential Areas

The Riyadh Parking Project has launched its first phase of managed unpaid parking in residential neighborhoods. This initiative is designed to organize public parking, reduce congestion, and prevent vehicles from commercial streets spilling into adjacent residential areas. It aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to create a more organized urban environment and improve the quality of life for residents.

The project complements the earlier phase of paid parking on commercial streets. It regulates parking in residential areas through digital permits issued to residents and their visitors via the Riyadh Parking app. These permits ensure that parking spaces are used primarily by residents, reducing unregulated parking that often causes inconvenience. The project is initially being rolled out in Al Worood neighborhood, with plans for gradual expansion to other neighborhoods adjacent to paid parking zones.

The Riyadh Parking app, linked to the national Nafath platform, provides a secure and easy way for residents to manage their parking. The project also employs periodic monitoring vehicles equipped with cameras to enforce parking regulations.

Launched in August 2024, Riyadh Parking is one of the world’s largest smart parking initiatives. It aims to regulate over 140,000 unpaid residential spaces and 24,000 paid commercial spaces across 12 zones.
