Elderly Moroccan Pilgrim: Makkah Route Initiative Greatly Improves Hajj Procedures

Munira, an 82-year-old Moroccan pilgrim, shared that her grandfather performed the Hajj more than 70 years ago on foot, enduring a grueling journey across several countries that took nearly two years amid the challenges of that era.

She recalled her father recounting the details of her grandfather’s journey since she was a child, often emphasizing the hardships and struggles of travel. This upbringing led her to believe that completing the Hajj rituals required considerable effort. “I never imagined that I would arrive in Makkah in just six hours, sitting on a plane,” she remarked.

Munira described how she completed all the procedures at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca in record time, ready to travel to Saudi Arabia in a pleasant and orderly environment. She noted that the contrast between her swift journey and her grandfather’s long trek highlights the significant advancements in serving pilgrims.

She praised the warm reception she received at the Makkah Route terminal, noting that the initiative represents a major improvement in streamlining Hajj procedures.
