Abu Lawza Building: Heritage Landmark Built above Saih Al-Qatif Springs
The Abu Lawza Building is one of the heritage landmarks for which Al-Qatif Governorate is renowned. It was built above one of the most famous water springs in Eastern Region, attracting visitors and local residents.
The building was constructed in one of Al-Qatif's towns and neighborhoods in 1289 AH, with its architectural style embodying local creativity and the traditional construction methods prevalent in the region. Local builders constructed it using traditional materials, including marine stone, plaster, and palm trunks.
In 2025, the Heritage Commission implemented a restoration project for the building in several stages, including documentation, reinforcement, restoration, and rehabilitation. A plan is currently being prepared to activate the site as one of the cultural destinations in Eastern Region.
The project is part of the Kingdom's efforts to protect and effectively manage cultural heritage and achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The vision places particular emphasis on the cultural sector and seeks to transform heritage sites into vibrant spaces that support cultural tourism and sustainable development while enhancing the community's connection to its historical roots.
