King Saud University Medical City Performs First Smart Cochlear Implant in Middle East, Africa

A medical team at King Saud University Medical City, represented by the King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center, has achieved a medical milestone regarded as the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa by performing the first implantation of a smart cochlear implant.

 Otolaryngology consultant Maryam Al-Juhani noted the implant is among the latest generation of cochlear implant systems, distinguished by its ability to analyze audio programs and store them inside the implant via internal memory, with the capability for future updates. This contributes to enhancing the user experience and improving the efficiency of medical follow-up.

 The King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center is the first of its kind in the region within the field of hearing impairment and ear device implantation, relying on the latest medical technologies and applying the highest international standards in diagnosis and treatment.
